johnlink bundles his HARRY POTTER rankings

When I started bundling up some of these movie series, I knew that this one would be a bear. Eight films, three of which I’ve ranked twice. Lots of information. But its worth it. There’s some joy to be had in finding another way to mention how good this franchise is. It’s not like I’m here taking time to post about LEPRECHAUN or something like that. HARRY POTTER may not be the best fantasy series ever made, but it sure gives LORD OF THE RINGS a run for its money.

Scores for FILM; MOVIE; ACTING; WRITING; BONUS (if applicable). Then the average score.

Since I have seen the last three twice for this blog, I am going to go with my most recent write up/ranking. I figure that is my most current feeling regarding the film. If you jump to that particular review, you will find a link to the first write up within the newer article. Is that confusing? Good.

HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER’S STONE: F:6; M:8; A:5: W:7; B:1 (score); average: 6.75

HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS: F:5; M:7; A:7; W:7; average: 6.5

HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN: F:8; M:7; A:7; W:8; average: 7.5

HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE: F:5; M:8; A:7; W:4; B:-1 (bad CGI); average: 5.75

HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX: F:7; M:10; A:8; W:7; B:1 (cinematography); average: 8.25

HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE: F: 6; M:9; A:8; W:6; average: 7.25

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 1: F:8; M:7; A:8; W:7; B:2 (score, animation); average: 8

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2: F:8; M:9; A:8; W:9; average: 8.5

Unlike most movie franchises, this is a series which absolutely improves as the films go on. It also grows with its characters unlike any series. Starting as a PG rated kiddie flick with parts 1 and 2, this becomes as tough and challenging a PG-13 rating as you can get for the final, bloody film. It takes a slight dip for GOBLET OF FIRE in my opinion, but follows that up with what is arguably the best in the series with ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. Suffice it to say, I will be revisiting this series more than one more time. Here are the links to the articles:
