johnlink bundles his JACK RYAN rankings

This is an odd series to bundle, due to its lack of continuity. Four movies, three actors, two and a half different timelines (since Ryan seems to get a lot older between RED OCTOBER and PATRIOT GAMES, but his family sure doesn’t). I’ll put all four of them here together anyway.

Scores for FILM; MOVIE; ACTING; WRITING; BONUS (if applicable). Then the average score.

THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER: F:6; M:7: A:8; W:7; average: 7

PATRIOT GAMES: F:5; M:8; A:7; W:6; average: 6.5

CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER: F:6; M:8; A:8; W:7; average: 7.25

THE SUM OF ALL FEARS: F:4; M:6; A:7; W:3; average: 5

I would have said, going in, that I appreciate the two Ford films better than the others, but I clearly list HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER ahead of PATRIOT GAMES. Go figure. Based on the entertainment value, I do like Ford’s better, but the top three are all fairly close. The fourth flick… not so much. I really hope they get this series right when they reboot it with Captain Kirk. Links to the articles below…
